From Invisible Coach To Bestselling Author: Claim Your Authority

From Invisible Coach To Bestselling Author: Claim Your Authority

I’m sure you know, many soulful, competent entrepreneurs struggle to stand out amid the noise in the online business world. This was my story, too. I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and became a coach in 2002, pivoting from a highly paid, successful career in IT.

Even though the clients I worked with achieved amazing results, I felt unseen and like a best-kept secret. I wasn’t taken seriously because I was part of the noise. As a result, my income and impact suffered.

This changed when I became a published, bestselling author. What I’m sharing here is based on my own experience and that of my clients.

I learned that creating more prosperity is not only about cultivating an abundance mindset; it’s also about having an energetic business strategy.

As entrepreneurs, we want visibility and to be seen as authorities so we can create the impact and income we envision.

For me, the solution is to become a bestselling published author.

One wonders why so few spiritual entrepreneurs follow this strategy. Even though it may seem the opposite, only about 1% of entrepreneurs become published authors. Of that 1%, only 1% become bestselling authors.

You see, there is a deeper meaning to taking that step. It takes courage to stand out, to be vulnerable and authentic. It takes courage to publicly own your story, your mistakes, and your traumas. It takes courage not to fear being judged, rejected, or ridiculed. It takes courage to be willing to let your story help others on a scale beyond your inner circle.

Once you summon the courage within, you find that becoming a bestselling author aligns your mission with a purpose-driven business. The more you get published, the more you rise above the noise.

Let’s face it, more gurus enter every niche every day. As a published author, you demonstrate credibility because experts in their field can write and speak extensively about their subject. When you add wisdom, vulnerability, and authenticity, you offer true value from the heart, which is what the world is hungry for.

If you feel I’m talking about you and you’re not yet a bestselling published author, pay attention. You’re hiding your Light and limiting your business’s potential.

Published authors know that it is an effective marketing strategy to elevate their brand and gain instant authority, enabling them to make a greater impact and increase their income.

And if you are a published author who is not experiencing this benefit, you are probably not fully leveraging your status and your book. This is something I help my authors with.

Coming back to the idea of becoming a bestselling author for the first time… you might ask, What is the big hype about it?

What does it actually give you?

Credibility and authority

Getting published gives you instant authority and skyrockets your credibility. Being seen as an author is priceless. Many of my authors say it makes a significant difference in their business and how they show up.

Confidence

Your confidence is boosted on so many levels. Confidence in yourself for achieving authorship. Confidence in your business because you can demonstrate your skills and the results you deliver for your clients. Confidence in realizing you’re a badass leader of your people by owning your story, which, in turn, allows others to do the same. This is huge for embodying your identity as an author and a leader of yourself and others.

Visibility

Most authors become speakers. Being a bestselling author opens doors to higher-level podcasts, summits, and stages. Podcast hosts are always looking for the next guest who can speak from the heart and deliver the value their audience expects. When you add your book to your speaker one-sheet, your value is implied. If you are a podcast host, you become more attractive to guests with large followings, which introduces you to their audiences.

Legacy

When you have your story and expertise published, you hold a tangible book in your hand, and that’s your legacy. Digital is quick and easy, but the moment you publish a post on social media, no matter how profound it is, it drowns in the noise. A book, on the other hand, is forever.

Transformation

Personal transformation is inevitable when you write your story as a chapter or incorporate it into your solo book. You gain a new perspective and become aware of more gifts hidden within your story. Many of my clients say they probably saved thousands of dollars in therapy simply by writing their story.

Clarity

Writing about your story and expertise gives you greater clarity about how you help your clients, how to add more value, and how to create greater impact when they work with you. You become clear about your message, which attracts more of your ideal clients.

What do you need to become a bestselling published author?

  • You need to be an expert in your field so you can write in depth about your expertise and the results you deliver, drawing on personal experience rather than book knowledge.
  • You need passion for your mission, purpose, and soul expression because writing demands a lot of energy, presence, and discipline to stay on course.
  • You need to be willing to be visible, to lead, to stand out, and to own your story.
  • You need to write from your heart, not using AI to write for you, because writing from your heart is authentic and vulnerable, and your true voice shines through.

What options do you have?

Multi Author

Most first-time authors start by contributing a chapter to a multi-author book, and many contribute to several multi-author books before writing their solo book. It gives you a sense of the lay of the land, so to speak. You experience the writing and publishing process as part of a community.

Solo Author

There are no rules about when to write your solo book. You know when you are ready. Here, you can choose to go it alone, work with a publishing coach like me 1-on-1, or join a group writing program.

Writing on your own requires tremendous discipline and can be very lonely, leaving you feeling like you are writing in a vacuum when you receive no guidance or feedback.

I recommend writing your solo book either as part of a group program or, if you prefer, by working 1-on-1 with a publishing coach. Either way, you will receive support.

Writing in a group provides accountability and a sense of community that fosters motivation and resilience when things get tough.

Writer’s block can happen, but it can be quickly resolved when you have a sounding board. Life often gets in the way and can cause you to stop writing, and without support, it can be extremely difficult to get back to your book.

What should you look for in a publisher when embarking on the journey to becoming a bestselling author?

Energy is everything, and having an energetic connection with the publisher can make the difference between a pleasant experience and an unpleasant one.

Check their credentials. Have they published authors’ books? Do they have a track record? Can they deliver on their promises?

For multi-author books, will you have your own author page on Amazon so you can claim the book?

For solo books, make sure your book is published under your author page, not the indie publisher's.

Can the publisher help you leverage your book to grow your business? This is important because the purpose of writing a non-fiction book is to grow your business, not to depend on book sales.

I highly recommend becoming a bestselling published author, again and again. It’s one of the most thrilling, transformative, and fulfilling experiences for an entrepreneur.
